Assessing Undergrad Research and Closing the Loop [VIDEO]

August 31, 2010

Faculty in the Biology Department had a pressing research question, but it wasn’t precisely about biology. They wanted to know how their students benefited from participating in research. Though they encouraged students to do research, and thought it was good experience for them, the faculty didn’t really know exactly what the students gained from the work, nor how these research experiences fit with the overall biology curriculum.

Dr. Madhu Katti, associate professor in the department, applied for and received an Assessment Mini-Grant to explore these questions. Dr. Katti explains the project and his assessment findings in the video below.
