ECE Bags 2012 Provost’s Award for Distinguished Achievement in Assessment of Learning

May 4, 2012

The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department bagged this year’s prestigious Provost’s Award for Distinguished Achievement in Assessment of Learning. Over the years, the ECE Department has distinguished itself for its investment in assessment of student learning. Under the leadership of Department Chair Dr. Nagy Bengiamin, the department implements comprehensive assessment processes that close the loop for all their four programs – the BS degree in Electrical Engineering, the BS degree in Computer Engineering, the MS Engineering – Electrical Engineering Option and the MS Engineering – Computer Engineering Option. These departmental processes are tweaked on a regular basis and have matured significantly over the last decade resulting in improvements in teaching and learning. This year the ECE faculty members are collaborating with other Lyles College of Engineering faculty on a research project focused on outcomes-based grading, an unexplored area of study, especially in engineering. Everyone is invited to the Provost’s Awards reception where ECE, along with other awardees, will be recognized for their achievements on Thursday, May 10, 2012, from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. at the University Dining Hall.
